UFO Sighting in Portland, Oregon on 1973-07-31 00:00:00 – Huge, classic disc shaped with dome, white lights sequentially moving around edge of disc

The following exert is an eye witness statement. Please read into it what you will. This has been reported to mufon who I am sure are investigating:

I was staying in a rough summer cabin type houseboat. there was a ladder linking the lower floor with the bedroom upstairs. i was asleep and got up to use the bathroom, descending the ladder. beside the ladder was a large window which faced the willamette slough, and beyond it, sauvie’s island. i didn’t look out the window on the way down that i recall. when i climbed the ladder to go back to bed, i looked across the water to the island and saw a huge craft hovering over the island. i stopped and watched. it was a classic “flying saucer” shaped craft and around the perimeter of the disc were white lights that appeared to be moving slowly and sequentially from right to left. i watched it, stunned, for maybe 30 seconds. suddenly, it went straight up, in a second’s time, and was gone. i never reported it or anything. i knew people would think i was crazy. i have told many people though, over the years. it remains a very clear picture in my mind. it was awhile before i got back to sleep.
